Dharmendra Passes Away: Family to Hold Prayer Meet This Week Amid Industry Mourning

Bollywood is mourning the loss of veteran actor Dharmendra, who passed away on Monday after weeks of treatment for age-related complications. His death has left the film fraternity and fans across the country in deep sorrow. While the family opted for a private funeral, preparations are underway for a prayer meet that is expected to take place later this week.

Prayer Meet Expected Soon

According to sources close to the family, the Deols are planning a prayer gathering in Mumbai, though the venue is still being finalised.

“A prayer meet will be organised, but the location has not been confirmed yet,” an insider told PTI.
The memorial is likely to see attendance from some of the biggest names in the Indian film industry.

Final Rites Held Privately

Dharmendra, who was hospitalised earlier this month for routine medical checks, had been receiving treatment both in the hospital and at home. His health updates had sparked concern, especially after a brief death hoax circulated online, which the family dismissed.

On Monday, the Deol family quietly performed the final rites at Pawan Hans crematorium in Juhu, without a public antim yatra.

Several stars, including Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, and other leading actors, were present to pay their last respects. Over the next few hours, a steady stream of celebrities visited the family residence to offer condolences.
Among them were Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Ananya Panday, Varun Dhawan, Kajol, Farah Khan, Aryan Khan, Ahaan Panday, and many others. Veteran actors like Shatrughan Sinha and Sanjay Khan also visited to offer support.
Several dignitaries and close friends were seen meeting his wife, Hema Malini, to express their sympathies.

Dharmendra, lovingly known as Bollywood’s “He-Man,” leaves behind an unmatched legacy. His memorable performances in classics like Sholay, Chupke Chupke, Phool Aur Patthar, Dharam Veer, and Seeta Aur Geeta shaped generations of Indian cinema.

The beloved actor was set to celebrate his 90th birthday in December. His passing marks the end of an era and leaves a void that the Hindi film industry will feel for years to come.
