Ashika Ranganath on Age Gap Debate: “I Choose Roles for Versatility, Not Age”

Addressing the issue directly, actress Ashika Ranganath, who stars opposite Ravi Teja in the upcoming Telugu film Bhartha Mahasayulaku Wignyapthi, popularly known as BMW, has shared her clear and thoughtful perspective.

During a recent promotional press interaction, Ashika was asked about being frequently cast opposite senior male actors. Responding candidly, the Madhagaja actress said she approaches cinema purely from an actor’s perspective, focusing on character depth and versatility rather than the age of her co-stars.

“In Bhartha Mahasayulaku Wignyapthi, my character is young and modern. In Naa Saami Ranga with Nagarjuna garu, I played a more mature role. I actively look for versatility,” she said.

She further explained that her decisions are driven by how well she fits the role and what the character contributes to the story.

“It does not matter whether it is a young hero’s film or a senior hero’s film. What matters to me is how convincingly I portray the role and how meaningful it is to the narrative,” Ashika added.

Learning From Experience Matters

Co-actor Dimple Hayathi, who also stars in BMW, supported Ashika’s viewpoint during the event. She noted that working with experienced actors provides valuable opportunities for learning and professional growth.

She shared that she prioritizes strong roles and versatility and does not view age difference as a limitation, adding that senior actors bring experience that helps younger performers evolve.
