Dhurandhar: Saumya Tandon Says Ranveer Singh’s Silence Reflects His Maturity as an Actor

Aditya Dhar’s spy thriller Dhurandhar continues its extraordinary run at the box office and is widely being described as one of the biggest cinematic successes in recent times. The film’s reception is particularly notable at a time when Bollywood has been facing criticism over content and originality.

While much of the conversation around Dhurandhar has focused on Akshaye Khanna’s understated yet powerful performance, actor Saumya Tandon has offered a fresh and thoughtful perspective, drawing attention to Ranveer Singh’s approach to his role.

In a recent interview with Radio City, Saumya Tandon spoke candidly about Ranveer Singh and the impression he left on her in Dhurandhar. She acknowledged the widespread praise for Akshaye Khanna but said Ranveer’s contribution deserves equal recognition.

“I also want to say one more thing. Everybody’s talking about Akshaye, but I have to tell you, I love Ranveer in that movie,” she said.

Saumya explained that what stood out most to her was Ranveer Singh’s restraint as a leading star. According to her, despite being the film’s biggest name, he consciously allowed space for his co-star to shine.

“Being a superstar, being a hero, he’s standing behind and giving the stage to Akshaye to do all those nuances,” she said. “He’s very subtly standing behind as an actor and staying silent. I think it’s the sign of a very mature artist.”

Dhurandhar Box Office Performance

At the box office, Dhurandhar continues to set new benchmarks. The film has already crossed the Rs 400 crore net mark in India, with gross collections approaching Rs 500 crore domestically.

Internationally, the film has added over Rs 130 crore, pushing its worldwide total towards the Rs 650 crore mark. Within just 12 days of release, Dhurandhar has emerged as the highest-earning ‘A’ rated film, while also breaking several other box office records during its strong second week.

Directed by Aditya Dhar, Dhurandhar is a high-stakes spy thriller featuring Ranveer Singh as Hamza, an Indian intelligence officer who infiltrates criminal networks in Pakistan’s Lyari region. The film also stars Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, R Madhavan, and Arjun Rampal in pivotal roles.

Given its massive success, the makers have already confirmed a sequel that will conclude the story. The follow-up film is scheduled to hit theatres on March 12, 2026.
