After weeks of speculation on social media, Sonakshi Sinha has finally addressed the persistent rumours about her pregnancy. In October, the actress cleverly dismissed the chatter with a humorous Instagram post, joking: “World record holder for longest pregnancy in human history.”
The conversation resurfaced during Ramesh Taurani’s Diwali party, where her husband Zaheer Iqbal joined in on the light-hearted trolling. While posing for photographers, he placed a hand on her stomach as if confirming the rumour—only to laugh seconds later.
Sonakshi Sinha reacts to constant speculation
Speaking to News18 Showsha, the Dabangg star said she isn’t bothered by the noise but finds it unnecessary.
“I didn’t take any jab. The media keeps taking jabs at me. They keep thinking I’m pregnant! When I’m pregnant, I’ll be the first one to tell the world—‘Guys, ab main pregnant hoon, chup ho jao,’” she joked.
Life after marriage: ‘Nothing has changed, and that’s how it should be’
Sonakshi and Zaheer Iqbal tied the knot in June 2024 after nearly seven years together. The actress says marriage has not altered her life or career in any dramatic way—and she prefers it that way.

“They walked so we could run,” she said, referring to senior actresses who broke stereotypes. “Today, I can’t even imagine thinking, ‘I’m married so I can’t work.’ Marriage is just a part of life—nothing stops.”
She added that no other profession demands women to pause their careers after marriage:
“If a female journalist gets married, she doesn’t stop working. Hats off to the women actors before us who paved the path.”
On ageism and opportunities for female actors
Sonakshi believes the industry is slowly but surely moving beyond its obsession with youth.
“This obsession with youth still exists to some extent, but many people have moved past it,” she said.
She pointed to the resurgence of legends like Jaya Bachchan—who starred in Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani and will soon appear in Dil Ka Darwaaza Khol Na Darling—as proof that roles for women across age groups are finally being written.
“Today, we have 17- and 18-year-olds debuting, and we also have Jaya ji and Shabana ji shining. It’s beautiful to see women of every age finding their niche and absolutely killing it.”

Sonakshi acknowledged that while the shift is small, some producers are becoming more willing to invest in female-centric films. She highlighted her recent collaborator Prerna Arora, calling her a rarity in the industry.
“Producers are slowly opening up to women-led projects. The change is gradual but encouraging.”
Her latest film, Jatadhara, which also marks her Telugu debut, has received decent reviews.
