During Family Week on Bigg Boss Season 19, emotions ran high as actor Gaurav Khanna was reunited with his wife, Akanksha Chamola. The Anupamaa actor and his wife shared warm moments on the show, celebrated their ninth wedding anniversary, and even revisited their love story. But it was Akanksha’s candid conversation about motherhood that sparked widespread discussion.
During an interaction, contestants Malti Chahar and Praniot More informed Akanksha that an astrologer who had visited the house had suggested to Gaurav that she was planning to start a family. Akanksha firmly dismissed the claim, saying she had no such intention.
Akanksha stated, “As of now, I have not felt the inclination to become a mother. Even in the future, it seems unlikely. I don’t feel the need to have a child. When you give so many reasons, it’s a sign you’re not ready. Those who truly want kids don’t have excuses.”
When asked if fear was holding her back, Akanksha clarified that responsibility—not fear—was her concern. “I am not scared. I just don’t think I can be that responsible. Giving birth is not like making a dessert; it is a huge responsibility. I don’t think I can justify that duty at this age or any age. I have a career; I have ambitions. If people call it selfish, I don’t mind,” she said.

Add Hunterfly on GoogleLater, Gaurav explained why he had questioned the astrologer. He shared that since they had been married for years without planning a child, he was curious about what the astrologer might foresee. Akanksha responded firmly, “You should ask me, not her. You already know my answer. A no is a no.”
While the moment was emotional, Gaurav acknowledged that he respected her decision. “Your answer scares me… but if I have already agreed to your choice, why would I change now? If you’re not ready, that’s fine,” he told her.
Earlier in the season, Gaurav had admitted on the show that he did wish to have children but understood Akanksha’s perspective. “She doesn’t want kids. I want kids. But it’s a love marriage — I have to respect her decision. There’s a lot of responsibility involved. If both of us are working, who takes care of the child? I expressed my desire, but I understood her point.”
Akanksha’s honest discussion on the show has opened up conversations about personal choice, modern relationships, and the pressure surrounding parenthood.
