Dining With The Kapoors: Producer Armaan Jain Explains Alia Bhatt’s Absence, Says “Every Function It Happens…”

Netflix’s upcoming docu-series Dining With The Kapoors is set to bring viewers inside one of Bollywood’s most iconic families — the Kapoor clan. The series features Ranbir Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Neetu Kapoor, Randhir Kapoor, Rima Jain, Riddhima Kapoor Sahni, Aadar Jain, Zahan Kapoor, and Navya Naveli Nanda, offering a rare glimpse into their family traditions, humour, and legacy.

But one detail caught immediate attention when the trailer released: Alia Bhatt is missing from the show. The actor, who is married to Ranbir Kapoor, does not appear in any of the previews, prompting fans to question her absence.

Now, producer Armaan Jain has addressed the topic and clarified why Alia does not feature in the series.

Why Alia Bhatt Is Not a Part of Dining With The Kapoors

Speaking to Bollywood Hungama, Armaan Jain confirmed that Alia Bhatt was invited to join the shoot but was unavailable due to work commitments.

“She had prior commitments to shoot. I might sound filmy, but like Raj Kapoor said, ‘work is worship’,” Armaan said.

He added that schedule clashes are normal within the family:

“Every function it happens — literally Christmas get-togethers, Diwali get-togethers. It happens.”

According to Armaan, Alia’s absence is purely logistical, not intentional, and similar overlaps have occurred during several family gatherings.

Promo Shows Ranbir Kapoor’s ‘Big Brother’ Energy

Netflix recently shared a new promo for Dining With The Kapoors on Instagram, captioned:
“Meet the most chaotic Kapoor cousin. Watch Dining With The Kapoors, out 21 November, only on Netflix.”

The clip shows Ranbir Kapoor teasing Armaan behind the scenes, joking around during cooking segments, and displaying full ‘big-brother mode’ as he guides and pulls his cousin’s leg. He is later seen raising a toast with the family, celebrating the meals and memories that bring them together.

A Tribute to Raj Kapoor’s Legacy

The series brings together the surviving Kapoor siblings — Rima Jain and Randhir Kapoor — along with the third and fourth generation of the iconic film family.

The gathering marks the 100th birth anniversary of Raj Kapoor, honouring the legendary filmmaker’s contribution to Indian cinema.

Featuring conversations, chaos, nostalgia, and candid moments, the series aims to introduce viewers to the Kapoors beyond the glamour of the industry.
