Sonakshi Sinha Reveals She Wanted to Marry Zaheer Iqbal ‘Within a Month’ of Meeting Him

Mumbai, India — October 29, 2025:
Bollywood actress Sonakshi Sinha, who tied the knot with actor Zaheer Iqbal in June 2024, has finally opened up about her love story and why she kept their relationship private for years.

Speaking on Prime Video’s talk show Two Much with Kajol and Twinkle, Sonakshi shared that she instantly knew Zaheer was “the one” soon after meeting him and even confessed her love within a week.

“I Told Him I’ll Marry You Only”

The Dabangg actress revealed,

“When I saw him, it was an instant click. I just knew I wanted to spend the rest of my life with this guy. So I told him I love you within a week, and he thought I was crazy. He even called his best friend and said, ‘I think she’s confused!’”

She added with a laugh,

“Within a month, I told him, ‘I’m gonna marry you only.’ Seven years later, we did get married. I’ve never felt like that with anybody else. When I did, I didn’t want to hide it — so I told him. If he ran away, he ran away; clearly, he didn’t. It worked out beautifully.”

Why Sonakshi Kept Her Relationship Private

Sonakshi also explained why she and Zaheer kept their relationship away from the limelight for so long.

“I have kept my relationships under wraps because thoda nazar I believe in — the evil eye. Honestly, I didn’t want it to be public until I knew I was actually going to marry this person, which happened with Zaheer.”

The couple first met on the sets of Double XL and gradually developed a strong bond that blossomed into love.

A Love Seven Years in the Making

Sonakshi and Zaheer got married on June 23, 2024, in an intimate ceremony at their Mumbai home, surrounded by close friends and family. The date held special significance for the couple — exactly seven years after they first met in 2017.

Following their wedding, they hosted a grand reception at Bastian, Mumbai, attended by top Bollywood stars and filmmakers. Sharing their joy on Instagram, the couple wrote,

“On this very day, seven years back (23.06.2017), in each other’s eyes, we saw love in its purest form and decided to hold on to it.”

Sonakshi’s Upcoming Telugu Debut: Jatadhara

On the work front, Sonakshi Sinha is preparing for her Telugu debut in the upcoming film *Jatadhara**, directed by Venkat Kalyan and Abhishek Jaiswal. The supernatural thriller blends mythology, black magic, ancient curses, and mystic treasure hunts, leading to an intense battle between light and darkness.

The film’s climax — described by the makers as “one of the most challenging ever mounted” — reportedly features large-scale sets, intricate choreography, and powerful emotional performances.
