Jawan actress Girija Oak Godbole, who recently went viral as the internet’s “Woman in the Blue Saree,” has opened up about the dark side of her sudden social-media fame. In a candid Instagram video, the acclaimed actor expressed deep concern over AI-generated vulgar and morphed images of her circulating online, calling the trend sexualised, objectified, and extremely distressing.
‘It’s been absolute madness’
Girija began her message by acknowledging the overwhelming attention she has received over the past week.
“What has been happening on social media for the past three days has been absolute madness. It’s crazy and great in equal parts.”
She thanked fans, friends, and colleagues for the love, memes, and messages she received—many of which she described as “ridiculously funny and creative.”
‘Some images are AI-morphed and not in great taste’
However, the actor said not everything going viral has been pleasant.

While she understands how internet trends work, Girija expressed shock at how boundaries disappear online, saying the “game has no rules.”
‘My son will see these obscene images one day’
In an emotional moment, Girija spoke as a mother, revealing her biggest fear:
“I have a 12-year-old son… eventually he will have access to these images. They’ll remain on the internet forever. These obscene images of his mother—he’s going to see them one day, and it worries me.”
She said that while people are aware these photos are fake, the fact that they provide “cheap thrills” is what makes the situation frightening.
‘If you consume such content, you’re part of the problem’
Girija said she may not be able to completely control the situation, but she refuses to stay silent.
“If you use AI to morph images of women or men into something inappropriate, think about it once. And if you simply enjoy viewing such images—you’re also part of the problem.”
‘If this brings people to my work, what more can I ask for?’
Despite the stress, the Ladies Special and Jawan actor ended her message on a positive note, expressing gratitude that her work is receiving renewed attention.
