According to reports, Gupta has filed a defamation suit against filmmaker Vinita Negi<\/strong>, seeking Rs 9 crore in damages<\/strong> over allegations linked to the film.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The proceedings, reportedly titled Sayani Gupta v. Vinita Negi & Ors.<\/strong>, also name Meta, Reddit and Deccan Chronicle Holdings Limited<\/strong> as defendants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Bar and Bench<\/em>, an application seeking an urgent hearing and interim relief was expected to be listed on September 3<\/strong>, with the matter likely to come before Additional Sessions Judge Shudhirkumar Murlidharrao Bukke<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The dispute stems from allegations that Gupta’s short film \u2018Aasmani\u2019 substantially resembles Negi’s unfinished documentary \u2018Prabha\u2019<\/strong>. Gupta has rejected those allegations in her court plea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
